DuBois Book Store, located at 332 S. Lincoln St., closed its doors permanently at 5 p.m. Tuesday. The store had been in business for almost 75 years.
Each of the business’ three glass doors had a sign reading “closed” taped inside, while a wooden bench blocked the lower store entrance. The store’s website is no longer available and the store’s answering machine states, “I’m sorry, we’re closed.”

A formal announcement of the closing was posted on the bookstore’s Facebook page around 6:30 p.m.

“After almost 75 years of business, it has been an honor and a privilege to serve the students, faculty and staff of Kent State University and the community of Kent. Thank you for your patronage.”

No explanation as to why the store is closing has been given.

The South Lincoln Street business has been servicing the Kent State community since 1936.
