The Kent State field hockey team lost its third straight game today, falling to No. 6 Virginia, 8-2. Virginia heavily outshot Kent State 29-5. The first half ended with Kent State down 3-2, but the Cavaliers shutout the Flashes in the second half. Sophomore forward Debbie Bell scored the Flashes' two goals on assists from junior midfielder Rachel Miller. Junior goalkeeper Caroline Suitch made a career-high 13 saves on the day. Kent State coach Kathleen Schanne said she is happy how the team played during the first half, but going against Virginia's forwards is a tough task for any team. The Flashes will travel to Pennsylvania to take on Lock Haven on Sunday at 1 p.m. Contact sports reporter Cody Erbacher at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
