Palestinian activist, writer and poet, Remi Kanazi, will be a part of a spoken-word event Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Governance Chambers in the Kent State Student Center.
Kanazi will discuses issues in Palestine and other injustices around the world. He is the author of “Poetic Justice: Writings on Resistance in Palestine.” His book and CD package will be available for purchase at the event for $15.
Ghassan Rafeedie, a graduate student of anthropology, said Kanazi compares what’s happening in Palestine to other issues on a global scale to help explain what’s going on.
“He does a great job of explaining things that are really hard to explain,” Rafeedie said.
Rafeedie said the event is co-sponsored by Students for Justice in Palestine and The Young Democratic Socialists. He said it is free and open to the public.
“I hope people come out,” Rafeedie said, “He does an amazing job about describing issues in a poetic fashion. He adds art to the politics of the situation making it interesting and informative.”
