Candle Light Vigil

Strong winds on Risman Plaza did not deter the Kent State community from holding a candlelight vigil Tuesday night to remember the lives lost in the church and hotel bombings in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday. After the winds proved to be too strong for the tea lights to hold a flame, the group of about 30 people relocated closer to the Student Center so their candles could be lit. Anton Dias, a student from Sri Lanka, came to the vigil to represent his people. His parents live close to where one of the bombs went off. “I’m really happy (with the turnout),” he said. “There’s more than I expected. Not just Sri Lankans either, but people from other countries.” (photo by Jarett Theberge)
