Former Kent State wrestler Kyle Conel could be taking his wrestling talents to the east coast in the fall of 2019.

The senior from Ashtabula, Ohio, announced on Twitter Monday that if he is granted a medical redshirt, he will wrestle next year for the Penn State Nittany Lions.

Conel entered the 2018-2019 season ranked No. 2 in the country by FloWrestling but his season ended after two matches due to a shoulder injury.  In 2018, Conel shocked the wrestling world when he finished third at 197-pounds in the NCAA wrestling championship.

If the medical redshirt is granted, Conel would fill a void for PSU as they are losing Bo Nickal, and they could also potentially be losing Shakur Rasheed and heavyweight Anthony Cassar.
