 Timeline of Ohio’s implementation of its Medical Marijuana Control Program, as specified in Ohio HB 523.

Sept. 8, 2016

Ohio’s medical marijuana control program established and a basic framework is set up for the state’s Medical Marijuana Control Program. 

May 6, 2017

Rules regulating cultivators are adopted by the Ohio Department of Commerce.         

Sept. 8, 2017

Processor and testing laboratory rules and are set by the Department of Commerce.                      

Sept. 8, 2017

• Dispensary rules, along with patient and caregiver rules, are adopted by the Ohio Board of Pharmacy.

• The State Medical Board of Ohio adopts rules for physicians certified to recommend medical marijuana. 

Sept. 8, 2018

• Ohio law requires the Ohio medical marijuana control program to be fully operational by this date.
