Mark Miller (right) and his son, Caleb Miller, walk down an icy slope underneath the Haymaker Parkway Bridge to drop off supplies at the tent shelters set up near the railroad tracks in Kent, Ohio Tuesday, Jan 29, 2019. Miller is the founder of Haven, a homeless shelter and resource center, set to open this fall in Ravenna. Miller is the pastor of Portage Community Chapel, and has been working to help victims of trafficking and those who are displaced for the last five years. Miller’s service and faith are intertwined according to him. “God,” Miller said. “I really feel like Christ told me to do this.” Miller has been distributing supplies to those without secure housing for years, especially during times of inclement weather. “We have to be out here,” said Miller. “The weather has no compassion. Everyone’s will thinks they can survive it, it will catch up to them.”
