The Kent State men’s golf team will compete in the MAC Championship in Nashport, Ohio this weekend.

The Flashes are currently ranked No. 12 in the NCAA and have won four of the past five titles.

“This is a whole different season now with the MAC, (NCAA) regionals and finals,” coach Herb Page said. “These guys are doing really good. They’ve been getting better, but so has everyone else. On Friday morning, we all come even.”

The team is preparing for the tournament the same way as it does for other competitions.

“What we’ve been doing is working,” junior Ian Holt said. “Now’s not the time to change it. We got to see how we matched up last week and we played well.”

Despite the postseason following the MAC Championship, the tournament is a sign of the end for the team’s seniors.

“This is the fourth MAC Championship I’ve played in,” senior Josh Whalen said. “It’ll be bittersweet. We have what it takes to get it done though. We’re all looking forward to it; we’ve all got a goal to still be playing here at the end of June.”

The tournament will begin Friday and conclude Sunday.

“If we play like we’re capable of playing, it’s going to be very hard to beat us,” Page said. “I feel good about it. We aren’t doing anything different except go out and compete.”
