The Kent State women’s golf team placed first in the BYU at Entrada Classic.

Kent State finished two strokes above par — 13 strokes ahead of host Brigham Young University.

Four of Kent State’s five players placed in the top 10, including freshman Karoline Stormo in first place and freshman Pimnipa Panthong tied for second.

“There were a lot of holes that could’ve really got them in trouble,” coach Greg Robertson said. “(Stormo) really played solid the whole week, she didn’t make too many mistakes or get a high number.”

Stormo was the only golfer of any team to finish the tournament under par.

“The course was really hard,” senior Wad Phaewchimplee said. “I’m proud of how we did. I think we did really well.”

The women’s team is ranked No. 12 in the NCAA.

“I’m definitely happy with what we saw this weekend,” Robertson said.
