The Pan-African Theater Ensemble will be performing Tahinta!: A Rhythm Play for Children by Efua Sutherland at 7 p.m. on Thursday in room 230 of Oscar Ritchie Hall.

The African Community Theatre’s website said that Sutherland is a renowned Ghanaian playwright, director and children’s author. She is also a cultural activist and founder of the biennial Pan-African Historical Theatre Festival in Ghana.

The performance will be a rhythm play, which is commonly used in West African Akan storytelling. Sutherland uses “call and response performance style, set to percussive beats, and performed for the young and young at heart.”

Children have free entry as well as Kent students with a valid student ID.

Tickets are available for pre-sale for $10 in room 127 of Oscar Ritchie Hall and will be available at the door one hour before show time.
