Brewhouse Pub on South Water Street in Kent on Wednesday, April 19, 2016.
First Place – Brewhouse Pub
Finding entertainment during college if you’re under 21 that doesn’t involve alcohol can sometimes prove difficult. Brewhouse provides an appealing solution to those “ready” for the bar- hopping life, but aren’t legal just yet.
Brewhouse opens its doors to those 18-and-over, giving Kent State underclassmen the chance to hangout, dance and drink (non-alcoholic beverages, of course) with their older classmates without having to part ways at other bars’ bouncers.
Second Place: Kent Lanes
Other than the simulating bar atmosphere, nothing beats good, old-fashioned competition for entertainment. Bowling alley Kent Lanes offers fair prices, special events and various open leagues.
For those looking to showoff their athletic abilities sansbowling shoes or any shoes atall, Kent Lanes also boasts anoutdoor sand volleyball court. Aslong as the unpredictable Ohio weather cooperates, you can strike, spare and spike, all at the same location.
Third Place: Student Recreation and Wellness Center
The Rec is perfect for students tight on money and open to fun. With the swipe of a valid Flashcard, students can take advantage of dozens of daily activities and occasional special events at no cost.
Go for a swim, climb the rockwall, shoot some hoops and brave the racquetball courts with friends. The facility has also been known to host popular events like the recent Life-Size Board Game Night and last semester’s “Hunger Games”-themed competition.
