Kent State Undergraduate Student Government announced through Twitter that Chase Rice will be preforming at the 2016 FlashFest on April 21.

This comes as USG tweeted earlier about making FlashFest a “multi-genre show” and promises to announce the rest of the acts at a later date.

USG Director of Business and Finance Colin Otubu says that the decision to make this year’s FlashFest diverse comes after students taking a part of a Twitter poll.

“We had students who would say that the lineup would be mainly about a certain genre and make other feel excluded from the event,” Otubu said. “So we made a choice to make this years FlashFest diverse so that most students feel satisfied and happy.”

Otubu said that the last time they attempted something similar in 2014 when USG brought Capital Cities, Ab-Soul, Scavenger Hunt, Evan Evolution and Dominic Parisi.

Otubu added that the full lineup would be announced before spring break but that students should expect more announcements as February comes to an end.

Chase Rice is an American country singer and songwriter. Rice is known for his album “Ignite the Night” which debuted at 1# on the Billboard Top Country Albums.
