The women’s team finished its first round at Match Play on Monday with all five players passing through to the second. Kent State was paired with Oakland University Golden Grizzlies, which could not match up against number one seed.

Josée Doyon ended her round two and one meaning she up two holes against her opponent with one hole remaining, which ends the match.  Michaela Finn and Amira Alexander finished four and three, Taylor Kim finished 2 up and Wad Phaewchimplee finished three up.

In Match play, the first team that won three of its five rounds of golf moves onto the next round.

The Flashes received a second round bye for being the top seed and will face Northern Illinois University Tuesday morning. Coach Robertson said the team played well today and is eager for tomorrow’s round.

“Match play is an unpredictable and competitive format,” said Robertson. “Our players need to be at their best with tomorrow’s cold and windy forecast.”
