Lawsuit and Kent State

Lauren Kesterson, a former Kent State softball player, filed a lawsuit Tuesday against Kent State and former softball coach Karen Linder, alleging Linder’s son raped Kesterson. The alleged rape took place in Kesterson’s dorm room in Dec. 2012. But that’s not all. Athletic department officials, including Athletic Director Joel Nielsen, knew of the alleged rape and attempted to cover up the incident. 

Ryan Place homicide update

Kent Police have identified the victim of a homicide Sunday at Ryan Place apartments as 19-year-old Nicholas Massa. Ty Kremling, a 17-year-old suspect, was apprehended with assistance from the Stow Police Department after fleeing the scene Sunday night before police arrived. On Tuesday, prosecutors filed a motion to have Kremling tried as an adult.
