Kent State takes seven events at tune-up

The Flashes placed first in seven events during Saturday’s tune-up.

Kent State’s women track team took first in three field events. Senior Dior Delophont placed first in high jump while sophomore Gabrielle Figueroa placed first in weight throw and junior Rebecca Leppelmeier took first in shot put.

The men placed first in four events. In the field, freshman Samory Fraga placed first in long jump and redshirt junior Reggie Jagers took first in weight throw. On the track, senior William Barnes took first in 60-meter hurdles and senior Jacob Swords placed first in the 800-meter race.

Not only did Barnes place first in the hurdles, he broke the Kent State indoor 60-meter hurdle record with a time of 7.67. Barnes is ranked first in the Mid- American Conference and will compete in the MAC championships next Saturday, Feb. 27 in Akron.
