The Kent State field hockey team (3-8, 2-1) lost its first conference match of the year as the Flashes fell 1-0 to Missouri State (5-9, 2-1) Sunday.

Missouri State scored the only goal of the match seven and a half minutes into the first half.

Kent State did not score until late in the first half compared to Missouri States’ five shots.

The Flashes added seven more shots in the second half, but were unable to put one past the Bears’ goalkeeper.

Junior goalkeeper Andrea Rinehart played all 70 minutes of Sunday’s game facing 11 shots while making four saves.

This loss moves the Flashes into second place in the MAC as they are tied with Ohio and Missouri State.

Miami remains the only unbeaten team in the MAC. The Flashes are set to take on the RedHawks Friday 1 p.m. at Murphy-Mellis Field.
