Flash Harmony starts to find their sound

Flash Harmony, Kent State’s second a cappella student group, has been searching for their sound since spring of 2014.

Since becoming an official club, the group has been experimenting with their sound and style, focusing on gaining recognition on campus.

Flash Harmony has been the opening act for fellow a cappella group, Kent Clarks, during their spring and fall concerts. The group has also performed at various philanthropy events hosted by Kent State’s Greek community and performed for BlastOff attendees while singing at the group’s promotional table.

The group also gained recognition off-campus, performing at the first annual MACappella Meltdown showcase hosted by Ohio University and collaborating with Denison University’s a cappella group, The Denison Hilltoppers.

“Trying to find our sound has been a big challenge,” Thomas Haase, junior visual communication design major, said. “We are really looking for what is going to make us stand out among other groups.”

Auditions for the fall semester are being held Sept. 14 and Sept. 18 from 8-11 p.m. in room 315 of the Student Center.
