A small electrical fire was reported around 12:30 p.m. at Wendy’s on Thursday, July 30, 2015. It remains unknown if a power outage reported on East Main street was related to the fire.

Staff report

A small electrical fire might have caused a power outage on E. Main Street Thursday afternoon, as the outage spanned from the Kent Courthouse to Faith Lutheran Church of Kent.

Lt. Michael Lewis from the Kent Police Department said calls came in about the outage just after 12:30 p.m., and around the same time, the fire department responded to an electrical fire at Wendy’s. Although the timing of the incidents was similar, it remains unclear if they are correlated.

FirstEnergy respondents were on the scene and managed to get the power back on shortly after 2 p.m. Kent Fire Department Chief John Tosko said the fire caused minimal damage.
