President Beverly Warren selected Nick Gattozzi as the university’s executive director of government and community relations on Monday.

Gattozzi comes to Kent State from the Greater Cleveland Partnership, where he served as vice president of government advocacy since 2006. He will begin his new position Aug. 1.

“Kent State and those we serve will undoubtedly benefit from the breadth of his experience; the depth of his knowledge about the workings of our local, state and federal government; and from his openness, integrity and genuine commitment to working collaboratively,” Warren said in a university press release.

Warren and her leadership team selected Gattozzi for the new position after a search process.

“Dr. Warren is very impressive,” Gattozzi said. “I like the idea of coming on board with someone who has a real vision and wants to move the university forward.”

Gattozzi, who will report directly to Warren, will support the advancement of Warren’s strategic plan by connecting and maintaining relationships between the university and government and public agencies at all levels.
