Kent State’s Alumni Association will host Alumni Weekend Friday and Saturday to help foster lifelong learning after graduation.

“Each year, we invite alumni back to campus to re-experience their college days,” said Nancy Schiappa, associate director of alumni relations. “Our goal and initiative is to foster lifelong learning and to invite alumni back to enjoy what’s new here at Kent State University.”

Schiappa said Friday will start with Birdies, Bogeys and Beer, an event where alumni can take part in a game of golf for $45 or foot golf for $35 at the Kent State Golf Course, view the art gallery downtown, tour the May 4th Visitors Center and memorial or tour the university’s airport. There will also be a “Cruise Down Memory Lane” bus tour at 5 p.m. In the evening, alumni can take part in KSU on Tap, a $10 beer education event at the Williamson Alumni Center.

Alumni College will take place on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event includes brunch and a keynote speech from Lt. Col. Sarah Deal Burrow, the first female Marine aviator and a 1992 Kent State graduate. During the afternoon, alumni can participate in educational sessions in the Aeronautics and Technology Building, where they can land a plane in the air traffic control simulator, learn about renewable energy and discuss metal casing.

Alumni College costs $25 for alumni association members and $30 for non-members.

Registration for Alumni Weekend is currently closed, but those with questions can contact the Alumni Association at 888-320-KENT (5368) or [email protected].
