Bricco

Bricco is Downtown Kent’s premier Italian restaurant and has been named this year’s number one choice to bring a first date.

Seated on the corner of South Depeyster Street, Bricco is the place to bring your significant other if you’re looking to impress without breaking your wallet.

“There aren’t a lot of places like this in Kent,” said Manager Nick Jones. “Most college students get scared of us just because of the way it looks, but our prices are really affordable. And for students old enough to drink, this is the place to drink.”

Jones said that one of Bricco’s most popular cocktails is the Pink Elephant martini, and they also boast a variety of beers. Popular entrées include the shrimp and scallops and a number of pizzas.

So, the next time you have some extra money in your bank account, make sure to make a reservation for two at Bricco.

Ray’s Place

Ray’s Place, which topped many lists in last year’s “Best of Kent” issue, has always been a local favorite.

Since 1937, Ray’s Place has served the members of the Kent community. Located on Franklin Avenue, the restaurant and bar takes your date away from the hustle and bustle of Kent’s new downtown restaurants and shops.

Instead, you and your date will experience brick-lined streets and a relaxing atmosphere that gives you a glimpse of the quaint downtown that Kent once was.

Paying for two also won’t be a problem at Ray’s, which offers a variety of reasonably priced burgers, wings and sandwiches. The bar also has an extensive drink selection for those 21 and over.

Newdle Bar, Belleria, Laziza

Newdle Bar and Sushi has been on South Water Street for the past two years.

As the name suggests, the restaurant offers a wide variety of delicious noodles and sushi at a reasonable price. The restaurant also has a carryout option for those times when you and your date want to relax and stay home.

Belleria of Kent is the place to go if you and your date are looking for excellent Italian food and pizza at prices a college student can afford. The restaurant, located on East Erie Street, offers a variety of pizza, pasta, salads and more.

Laziza in Downtown Kent is definitely a place to take your date if you’re looking to try something a little different. The Mediterranean restaurant offers dishes like shish-kebab wraps, falafel and hummus with lamb.

Though Laziza is on the pricier side, the large space and romantic atmosphere is sure to impress your date.
