“Forget” -Marina and The Diamonds

I am slightly obsessed with Marina. I’m one of those fans who has all of her albums, knows of all her unreleased work and follows her religiously. Marina has been releasing “Froot of the Month” every month, which consists of a song off of her new album, “Froot.” Although “Froot” was previously leaked, it was officially released on March 16. There are so many songs on the album that I love, but “Forget” really sticks out to me. Marina has always been able to make pop songs with depressing lyrics. It may not be for everyone, but it’s quite an interesting juxtapose.

“Miles Away” – The Maine

The Maine has been teasing fans with a few singles off of their to-be released album, “American Candy.” “Miles Away” has a perfect mixture of the typical The Maine sound of rock with a pop side. When I hear this song, I daydream about summer and remember that when school gets hard to deal with, I can be “Miles Away” in my head.

“Love Me Like You Do” – Ellie Goulding

Now, I in no way affiliate myself with “50 Shades of Grey,” but I do adore this song. I’ve always been a fan of Ellie Goulding, and this song has reminded me why. I can always count on her to write upbeat, happy love songs, especially with “Love Me Like You Do.”

“Answer” – Tyler, The Creator

Something about springtime always makes me want to listen to Tyler, The Creator’s last album “Wolf.” I remember strolling around campus during my sophomore year listening to this album in the warm weather. While I like a lot of the songs on the album, “Answer” is one I will never skip past. Tyler is going on tour soon and is actually stopping in Cleveland. Now all I need is a new album from him!

“W.A.Y.S” – Jhene Aiko

Jhene Aiko is such a soulful, spiritual singer. Her album, “Souled Out,” delivers soft vocals with some rap as well. “W.A.Y.S,” which is an acronym for Why Aren’t You Smiling, is just a great question for everyone to ask themselves. Jhene is the type of artist whose music is appropriate for any setting, and “W.A.Y.S” is a positive, relaxing song that I will gladly smile about.
