Kline wins County Commissioner

Vicki Kline, the Democratic candidate for Portage ­County commissioner, defeated opponents Sabrina Christian-Bennett, the Republican incumbent, and Richard Duncan, an Independent candidate.

Kline won the seat with 48.63 percent of the vote and 18,513 votes, compared to Christian-Bennett’s 16,928 votes and Duncan’s 2,625 votes with 95.42 percent of precincts reporting, according to the Portage County Board of Elections’ Election Summary Report.

In an interview before the election, Kline said as commissioner, she plans to bring more jobs to Portage County and continue to support the Portage County Lana Bank, which she chairs. She said he also plans to combat the growing heroin problem in the county.

Before her election, Kline served as the Portage County treasurer.
