The Kent Police Department is reporting no fatalities after an officer-involved shooting occurred Saturday morning, according to a press release from Lt. Mike Lewis.

The incident occurred in the 1500 block of E. Summit Street near Loop Road, the email said.

Kent State University sent an email advisory to students about this “emergency situation” at 9:23 a.m., warning students to avoid the area. It also notified students that the incident “happened off campus and there is no current threat to the campus community.” 

Kent State University Police are assisting Kent Police as needed. They have no other information at this time, but they will provide details as soon as they become available.
