Fourteen pre-collegian pianists will close out a series of performances with Kent State’s Piano Institute’s ninth annual Gala Concert. The event will be held 7 p.m. on July 22 in Severance Hall’s Reinberger Chamber Hall in Cleveland.

The students performing in the concert are from various countries from around the world, including China, Russia and Mongolia, as well as the United States.

Monica Brately, outreach program director in the Office of Continuing and Distance Education, said the Gala Concert showcases of the hard work the students since they’ve arrived at Kent State.

“Piano Institute directors, Jerry Wong and Donna Lee, associate professors in the Hugh A. Glauser School of Music at Kent State, have worked for ten days with these 14 students, providing intensive lessons, classes, master classes, performance opportunities and hours of practice,” she said.
