After a fight with his parents, a 16-year-old boy climbed an airport fence, crossed a tarmac and climbed into a jetliner’s wheel well before flying five freezing hours to Hawaii. Authorities found the native Californian on the Maui airport tarmac Sunday wandering without identification. 

Vice President Joe Biden launched a high-profile visit to illustrate the U.S. commitment to Ukraine and push for international agreement aimed at de-escalating tensions as violence continues. Biden will hold talks with the Ukrainian prime minister and president, Arseniy Yatsenyuk and Oleksandr Turchynov.

36,000 runners took part in the first Boston Marathon since last year’s deadly bombing to honor both the dead and the wounded on Monday. Under heavy security including surveillance cameras and police officers, an American won the men’s race for the first time in more than three decades.

Yemini forces, reportedly backed by U.S. drone strikes, hit al-Qaida militants Monday for the second week in a row. The government said 55 militants were killed so far, and Yemen officials said this was an assault on a major base of the terror group hidden in the southern mountains.
