“I Don’t Wanna Be An Asshole Anymore” by The Menzingers

It took a lot of listens for this album to click with me. I love the album now and can’t wait to see the new songs live, but I still don’t love it as much as their last one, On The Impossible Past. I loved this song right when I heard it and it works perfectly as an opener. It also has the best music video I’ve seen in recent history.

“For Mayor in Splitzville” by La Dispute

Rooms of The House is without a doubt La Dispute’s best album. This song and video blew me away on the first listen. It’s an insanely different direction for them and it works incredibly well.

“The Hotbed of Life” by Fireworks

I’m a sucker for super sad pop songs but this album/song takes the cake. Oh, Common Life is full of catchy riffs, booming choruses and some of the saddest lyrics you’ll hear all year. They’re also still the most underrated pop-punk band in the genre.

“The Worst Guys” by Childish Gambino feat. Chance the Rapper

I loved “Camp” when it came out but hated Because The Internet after my first listen back in December. I decided to give the album one more shot recently and realized how dumb I was before. Childish and Chance are a killer duo.

“It Never Stops” by Bad Books

I slept on Kevin Devine, Manchester Orchestra and Bad Books for way too long and I kind of hate myself for it. This became one of my favorite songs of all time immediately after hearing it. More Bad Books soon please..

“I Would Hate You If I Could” by Turnover

Bring out the tissues because this song is going to bring out every emotion you have about your ex girlfriend/boyfriend. This is the best song Turnover has ever released and if the new EP sounds like this, then count me in.

“Reservoir” by PUP

Pup is that new band that everybody is talking about. This song belongs in a Tony Hawk game. The record is a roaring punk record that is going to sound awesome on their summer tour with The Menzingers.

“Bang!” by Antarctigo Vespucci

What do you get when you put internet punk celebrity Chris Farren and punk icon Jeff Rosenstock together? You get Antarctigo Vespucci, an awesome blend of Bomb The Music Industry’s Vacation and Fake Problems’ Real Ghosts Caught On Tape. This song also has the best lyrics of the year so far: “Go out with a bang or until they all know your name. Just don’t fade out, Cuz all I wanna do is ride my bike and think about sex, yeah.”
