Video: Downtown Kent offers a variety of options for Valentine’s Day

With Valentine’s Day just a few days away, there are still many options available for those who need something to do. TV2’s Emily Crilley and Michael Bratton took a closer look at restaurants that are offering something special on Valentine’s Day, and where reservations are still available.

Valentine’s Day is best spent with someone special. Whether that special someone is your significant other, your best friend or if you’re choosing to make V-Day a “me, myself and I” holiday, there is always one big plus to going out on the holiday — restaurants bring out the best of the best for their menus.

Pufferbelly Ltd. is doing just that. Live music will be performed from 5:30-8:30 p.m. What better way to enjoy prime rib, filet mignon, stuffed salmon or chicken oscar than by gulping down some specialty drinks and being serenaded by a live band?

Bistro on Main is also going to be a fine-dining destination for Valentine’s Day, serving a veal chop, black grouper and rib eye.

Can’t choose between the surf and the turf? Bar 145 will be having a Valentine’s Day burger special, featuring a beef patty burger on an open focaccia bun served with lobster, asparagus and arugula.

Looking for something a bit sweeter? Dunkin’ Donuts has their specialty heart shaped donuts in a variety of flavors, including brownie batter, cookie dough and custard filled. Tree City Coffee and Pastry also has a variety of Valentine’s Day drinks, including a Sweetheart Latte, Honey Latte, Honey Cinnamon Chai, Chocolate Cherry Kiss and a Spicy Mocha.

If you’re more focused on staying fit this holiday, the Student Recreation and Wellness Center is hosting Valentine’s Day Partners Yoga from 7 -8 a.m., 12:15-1:25 p.m. and 7:00-8:00 p.m.

After relaxing with partner’s yoga, you can head to the Kent Stage to see Eric Burdon and The Animals. Doors open at 7 for the 8 p.m. show.

If you’re looking to celebrate a little early, Kent Stage will be hosting a “Valentine’s Jam’n Time” performance on Thursday, Feb. 13 featuring the band Drunken Sunday. Tickets are $6 and the show starts at 7:00 p.m.

All of this excitement might get you a little sweaty, but if you live on campus you’ll have no worries. On Saturday and Sunday laundry prices will be reduced from the standard price of $2.50 to $1, meaning you can get two loads done for less than the price of one!

If the only thing you want for Valentine’s Day is a drink or two, 101 Bottles of Beer On The Wall will be hosting an all-day beer tasting on Saturday, Feb. 15. From 11:30-2:30 a.m., the “As Black As My Heart” Beer Tasting will feature select dark brews. It will also feature a coffee tower, so you can learn which coffees to pair with your ales.

No matter how you choose to spend your day, you won’t have to go far to get some good food, eat some sweet treats and spend the day with the one you love.
