With the season winding down, the Kent State volleyball team will attempt to gain some ground in the Mid-American Conference standings after a pair of matches this weekend.

The Flashes (10-13, 4-6 MAC) prepare to host the Buffalo Bulls at 7 p.m. Friday and the Akron Zips at 7 p.m. Saturday at the M.A.C. Center.

The team is currently tied for third in the MAC East Division standings, holding the same conference record as the Bulls. The Flashes fell to the Bulls in four sets Sept. 28 in Buffalo, N.Y.

Kent State will attempt to earn its second victory this season against the last-place Zips (6-15, 0-10 MAC). The Flashes defeated the Zips back on Sept. 27 in a close match that went to a tie-breaking fifth set.

Since defeating nationally ranked Ohio on Oct. 10, the Flashes have struggled against MAC opponents. Kent State has gone 1-4 in that span, with the lone win coming on the road against Central Michigan.

The Flashes have six games remaining before the MAC Tournament begins on Nov. 22.
