Hillel will host a Homecoming dinner and Shabbat (Sabbath) at the Cohn Jewish Student Center Friday. Guests will have the opportunity to experience a Jewish Shabbat and a traditional kosher dinner.

Dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday and the Shabbat is free to students with a suggested donation of $18 and open to the public.

Jacob Rosen, development associate for Hillel at Kent State, said the Shabbat will feature a special theme for Homecoming including various activities and autumn-inspired treats.

“This Shabbat, we’re doing some Homecoming themes, and we’re calling it our pumpkin spice Shabbat,” Rosen said.

Rosen said the Shabbat is a time of reflection and is student led along with the staff.

“The Shabbat is the time of the week where we really take a pause from all the busyness,” Rosen said. “We focus on ourselves and our community, and it helps to center ourselves for the week ahead.”
