The faulty turbine from the Sept. 12 fire at the Kent State Power Plant is under investigation.

University Media Relations director Emily Vincent said the turbine is being returned to its manufacturer in Texas, which will dismantle the turbine in search of a cause for its malfunction.

“We probably won’t know the cause for a few weeks,” Vincent said. “Simply put, something inside the turbine unexpectantly broke.”

Vincent said she does not suspect foul play or human error as a cause.
