Hillel at Kent State is one of five Jewish organizations worldwide to receive the “Indispensable University Partner” award, according to a press release from Hillel at Kent State.

Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life presented the award July 30 at the Vision & Values ceremony during the Hillel Institute conference in St. Louis.

The organization is the largest Jewish campus community in the world with more than 550 Hillels on campuses around the globe, according to the press release. Hillel at Kent State received the “Indispensable University Partner” award for its involvement in campus life and opportunities for students.

“We as an organization are honored and proud,” said Jennifer Chestnut, Hillel at Kent State’s executive director.

According to the press release, Hillel at Kent State currently includes 1,500 Jewish students from Kent State and The University of Akron at the Cohn Jewish Student Center on Summit Street.

“Because (the award) recognizes the great partnership with the universities it will propel a deeper relationship and propel different parts of the university to connect with us,” Chestnut said.
