Faculty, students and supervisors can submit nominations for the fifth annual President’s Excellence Award, which recognizes Kent State staff members who showed exceptional performance during the last year, until Sept. 13.

President Lester Lefton and members of the cabinet chose recipients who received $1,000, according to the award website.

To be selected, a nominee must go above and beyond in areas including excellence in customer service, collaboration, diversity and inclusion, and student success, according to an email from Kim Hauge, communications and project manager of human resources.

Lefton established the program in 2009 as a way to recognize staff members who show a greater commitment to carrying out Kent State’s standards, according to a press release.

“There are many examples of the dedication our staff members bring to their jobs,” Lefton said according to the email from Hauge. “Sometimes this is demonstrated through work on a major initiative, and sometimes it comes through the employees’ daily, and often special, interactions with students, their colleagues and others.”

All full-time employees at any of the campuses who have been employed for at least one year are eligible, according to the award website. Past recipients are not eligible for at least two years following their award and faculty members are not eligible.
