ABC-TV’s “Shark Tank” participants David and Nique Mealey will kick off this year’s Michael Solomon Speaker series on April 16.

The Mealeys founded Back 9 Dips, a line of snack dips. They introduced the idea to the Shark Tank panel in 2012 and asked for a $150,000 investment for a 15% stake in their company. The end result was a deal with sharks Lori Greiner and Robert Herjavec. The pair gave the brothers $150,000 and a 25% stake in their company.

According to Michelle Parrish, marketing and communications director for the College of Business, the event is held by the Center for Entrepreneurship and Business Innovation and features successful entrepreneur speakers.

The Mealeys’ presentation will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Student Center and is free and open to the public.
