Students in Drawing I, Digital Media and Composition courses will feature their artwork in the annual Foundations Exhibition Tuesday through Friday in the main gallery of the art building.

Mark Shatz, the foundations coordinator, said he worked with Anderson Turner, the director of galleries, to ensure that students’ artwork would be widely displayed outside the classroom. Shatz said the 2013 Foundations Exhibition will feature technological elements, which separates the show from previous years.

“We’re using lots of digital components in the classroom where students who are painting or studying color are photographing colors in the environment and putting together videos,” Shatz said.

Shatz said Foundations Exhibition is a good opportunity for students to have their work exposed to the public while they are working to develop their artistic voices.

“It’s really exciting because for the majority of the students, this is the first time they’ve ever had the opportunity to show at the university in our main space,” Shatz said. “I like to watch the faces of everybody who gets to bring family members and see the art.”

The reception for the event will be held Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
