A campus-wide power outage at approximately 4:15 p.m. left Kent State in the dark.

The blackout lasted approximately twenty minutes.

Power workers checked the main grid equipment and reset fuses to get the power up and running.

Spokesman Eric Mansfield says the university is still investigating the cause.

The university investigated reports of people stuck in elevators in the student center.

However, those people are out safe and there are no reports of injuries.

Mansfield says they were able to quickly solve the problem thanks to social media. Tweets from students and staff indicated which buildings lost power.

The university will continue to check for any reports of problems in residence halls and academic buildings across campus.
