Mo’ Mojo, Northeast Ohio’s Zydeco-based band, and The TwistOffs are celebrating Mardi Gras at the Kent Stage Tuesday, Feb. 12.

Mo’ Mojo’s music is based from the Louisiana roots of Creole music. The genre is a blend of Cajun, blues and rhythm. The five-person group plays a combination of three-part harmonies, accordion, fiddle, guitar, rub-board, sax, trumpet, harp, bass, percussion and drums.

“They’re really good, it’s perfect for the event,” said Thomas Simpson, director of the Kent Stage. “If you’re an Irish band, St. Patrick’s Day is your day. This is their day”

The TwistOffs’ Facebook page mentions that they are an original rock and folk band that have performed with many bands such as Blink-182 and Sugar Ray.

“The TwistOffs have been around for a while and they’re from Kent,” Simpson said. “They play music that gets people up and having a great time.”

The event will feature Cajun foods from Hot Soss Don and New Orleans’ beers. Many Mardi Gras beads will be handed out along with fun games and all the great music.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. Admission is $7 in advance or $10 at the door.
