Students prepare for President’s State of the Union Address

President Barack Obama will deliver his annual State of the Union address Tuesday at 9 p.m. in Washington D.C. with a swirl of expectations surrounding it.

With every major news network carrying the president’s speech, the Kent State College Democrats will be hosting a State of the Union watch party in the basement of the Student Center starting at 8:45 p.m. for anyone interested.

“I expect the President to focus on the economy. I know that he understands the need for economic reform and actual resolution,” said Jake Green, president of the College Democrats. “That said, I also expect the President to talk about gun reform, gay rights and the environment, as his inaugural address suggested.”

Green said students should watch the speech because the President outlines the issues that affect the country most.

Dillon Lloyd, president of the College Republicans, said the group is not holding an official screening of the address.
