Phi Delta Theta to host event honoring Neil Armstrong

Phi Delta Theta is hosting “Bi-Providence,” an event for 110 members and alumni coming from nine different Phi Delta Theta chapters Saturday at Kent State.

The event is honoring the life of Phi Delta Theta alumnus Neil Armstrong. The slogan for this event is “This one’s for Neil.”

“We’re basically going to have a funeral procession but without him there, obviously,” said Andy Haders, freshman biology major and member of Phi Delta Theta. “We’re trying to get some of Neil’s actual stuff from when he was an active member, like his pledge pin. We just want to say thanks for what he’s done for us and remember what he did as an astronaut and as a Phi.”

The service will be followed by speeches in the Kiva. Speakers will include the following:

• Greg Jarvie, vice president of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs

• Steve Bossart, former international president of Delta Chi

• Lorrie Bossart, alumnus of Kent State’s Delta Gamma and wife of Bossart

• Rich Fabritius, Kent State alumnus and general council treasurer of Phi Delta Theta

• Sean Wagner, national associate vice president of Phi Delta Theta

• Sam Bluso, Phi Delta Theta and Iron Phi alumnus

• Jim Warner, province president of Phi Delta Theta

Each chapter attending Bi-Providence will also have a speaker.

The event will take place in Kent State’s Phi Delta Theta chapter house from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
