Water main break leaves Quad without water

Update: 6:46 p.m.

According to an email to Lake and Olson Hall residents, the mechanical problems related to the water outage have been repaired, and the water should be running within two hours.

After the water is up and running, the water will ebb and flow as usage fluctuates, and water will likely be discolored in the toilets, sinks and showers. Residents are advised to run water until the discoloration stops.

Update: 5:22 p.m.

A water main break near the Michael Schwartz Center on Feb. 16 has left the Quad

without water.

The Quad includes Stopher, Johnson, Olson and Lake Hall. There is no clear time

when the break occurred, but it may take more than six hours to fix the issue, according

to university maintenance.

“There are continued complications with completing repairs to the water main,”

Laura De’Amond, the RHD for Stopher and Johnson, stated in an emai. “It is unclear

when water can be restored.”

Students that need to use the showers and toilets can go to the Rec Center, open

until 9p.m. tonight. For others who just need to use a toilet, they will be available in

the Student Center until 1 a.m.

The library is closed until further notice because of the water line break.

Update: 1:25 p.m.

There is no definite time frame for when the water will be back on, but the source has been attributed to a water line break near Michael Schwartz Center.

The water is out in Stopher, Johnson, Lake and Olson Halls due to a possible pipe or water main break.

Quad desk staff said the water should be running by 1 p.m.

University maintenance was unaware of the issue and said the only water issues they were aware of were in Satterfield Hall.

Check back for more updates as they become available.
