Parking Downtown: The New Mission Impossible

Kent is considering several different ways to ease parking problems in the new downtown district and other then the brand new transit hub, drivers could see parking meters line a portion of Main Street, Water Street and Depeyster. Business employees, shift workers and visitors worry that downtown Kent has inadequate parking, even before the downtown district was bustling with new businesses. Kent Community Development Director Bridget Susel says parking meters would keep drivers from tying up parking spots for long periods of time. She expects pay to park to go into effect between October and November of this year; however, Susel says they don’t know how much the meters will cost.
