Daniel Day-Lewis, who originally turned down the role to play former President Abraham Lincoln, is now set to take on the challenge. Steven Spielberg stated that he would not produce the movie unless Day-Lewis agreed to the role. Spielberg also admits to calling Day-Lewis Mr. President on set.
