Starting their Mid-American Conference play this weekend, the Flashes soccer team travels to Central Michigan Friday at 4:30 p.m. and Bowling Green Sunday at 1 p.m.
After a 2-1 loss to Duquesne, head coach Rob Marinaro said that it’s about looking at the new weekend and giving it their best effort for the full 90 minutes.
“The team is excited getting ready to start the Mid-American Conference schedule. It’s upbeat with a lot of high energy so we’ll look to capitalize on that,” Marinaro said.
CMU plays the Flashes after at 2-0 loss to Purdue in their nonconference finale, and BGSU has lost their last five games and will play Ohio University before facing Kent State.
“I think we’ll do extremely well, actually. We’ve been practicing really well and working towards our goal of, not undefeated anymore, but trying to win our games and I think we look really good,” junior Jaclyn Dutton said. “It should be an interesting weekend for sure.”
Stephanie Senn was named MAC defensive player for the week ending September 16, after making nine saves during two games.
”I was so excited because I’m a freshman. Then this week, my friend on the team tweeted at me and I was like ‘oh my God.’ I texted my mom, so it felt, like, really, really good,” Senn said.
