The Flashes play their next Mid-American Conference opponents this weekend against the Ball State Cardinals and Miami Red Hawks.

Kent State’s women’s soccer team plays against Ball State Friday at 4 p.m. and Miami Sunday at 1 p.m.

“It’s another MAC weekend and we’re going to be ready to play two very difficult matches. We have to have high intensity and be ready to work for 90 minutes in both games,” said head coach Rob Marinaro.

Kent State came away without wins last weekend but is prepared for this week’s matches. Junior Jessacca Gironda said the week’s practice was a test to see how well the team could put the past weekend behind them and focus on a common goal.

“We really just focused more on defending more from the forwards all the way back and how we’re going to go about shaping the game so it goes our way,” said senior Hannah Newhouse.

The Cardinals and Red Hawks are both coming off of two MAC wins against Akron and Buffalo respectively. Ball State has forced overtime play in three of their ten matches, while Miami is a perfect 4-0 on the road this season.

“We just need to come out play well and make sure that we stay together as a unit because we do need these two Ws to stay on pace for our goal, which is win the MAC East, and our overall goal is to win the MAC Championship,” Gironda said.
