Bar 145, a Toledo-based pub, will bring food, fun and live entertainment to downtown Kent as the newest addition to Fairmount Properties’ Ametek building.

A Gastro Pub specializing in “burgers, bands and bourbon” where customers can enjoy the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere of a neighborhood bar along with inspired cuisine, Bar 145 offers live entertainment six nights a week. The style of music ranges from acoustic and dueling pianos to a variety of full bands from all over the U.S.

Another tagline reserved for Bar 145 is “Red Chucks … White China,” which represents its culture clash of employees in red Chuck Taylor tennis shoes serving food on white china.

Customers may create a burger or sandwich from a variety of 12 artisan cheeses, 21 homemade sauces and 24 toppings, including in-house cured bacon. Bar 145 purchases its fresh products daily from local farmers, according to a press release.

The name Bar 145 originates from what is considered to be the temperature of a perfectly cooked medium-rare burger with a warm, pink center and slightly crispy outside, according to its website.

Adam Branscomb, Fairmount Properties project manager, said Bar 145 will be located on the ground floor of the Ametek building on the far east corner intersection of Acorn Alley and Erie Street.

“I think they’re a great addition to the college town lineup,” said Branscomb. “But they’re also a great addition to the overall downtown experience because of the live music and because of the attention to detail. They’re going to create a very unique experience for people in Kent.”

Branscomb said the requirements to fill this lot were live entertainment, along with a place that offered food and a fun atmosphere, and he said Bar 145 met all required elements. The establishment is currently waiting for building permits to be approved, but Branscomb anticipates an opening some time in November.

“We’re very pleased to welcome them to the project,” Branscomb said. “And we look forward to a very successful opening.”
