High school students compete for a $1,000 business scholarship
July 2, 2012
Fifty rising high school juniors and seniors will be on campus July 22 to 25 to participate in the second Young Business Scholars Program.
The students will take courses in all the main areas of business: finance, marketing, accounting, economics, entrepreneurship and computers. They will also work in teams with a coach and a college student to create their own business plan for a restaurant.
The teams will be competing for a $1,000 scholarship.
The program was started because of a “need for students to better understand what they can do with a business education,” assistant dean Elizabeth Sinclair said.
