At the 2012 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Jacksons Indoor Track, grad student Penina Acayo finished her indoor season with an 11th place finish in the triple jump.

While her first jump in the event placed her in second, her final jump of 41’-4.25” was good for sixth in her flight and 11th overall in the event, just two spots out of the finals.

Junior Andrea Geubelle of Kansas won the event with a distance 44’-10.25”

Acayo was the only Kent State track and field athlete to attend to the NCAA indoor championships, wrapping up the team’s indoor season.

The Kent State track and field team will begin their outdoor season at the Texas Relays March 28-31.
