Red Bull hosting competition at the Rec

Red Bull will be hosting Paper Wings, a paper airplane contest, at the Kent State Student Recreation and Wellness Center Saturday. The contest will give qualifying students the chance to compete at the semifinals in Columbus, and finally the World Finals in Austria.

Paper airplanes will be judged in distance, airtime and aerobatics. Students may come with prepared airplanes or make them at the event. Registration is at 6:30 p.m. and the competition starts at 7 p.m.

“This competition is primarily geared toward Kent State University students to get them involved with it,” said Tasha Ledrich, senior assistant director for Recreational Services.

The winning student in each category will also be given a $75 gift card and have five cases of Red Bull delivered to their home.

Because of Kent State’s contract with Pepsi, Red Bull will not be able to give out, or sell, Red Bull at the event.

Normal entry protocol for the Rec will be required to attend the event.
