Kent State Fashion School designers will raise awareness for breast cancer during a Breast Cancer Awareness Fashion Show Thursday.

The Fashion Student Organization is hosting the event, where designers will use the signature PINK in their designs. All proceeds will go to a scholarship in remembrance of Elizabeth Rhodes. Rhodes, the former director of the Fashion School, passed away in 2009 following a 15-year battle with breast cancer.

There will be about 15 designers, said Amanda Novena, public relations officer for FSO. A fashion design student, fashion merchandising student and faculty member will be judging the show.

There will be awards for the best model and for the best designer: the best designer will receive a Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores gift card and the best model will receive a Victoria’s Secret gift card.

At the event, FSO is holding a raffle for Victoria Secret’s merchandise. Also, after the show there will be a donation-based bake sale.

The event is Thursday, Feb. 16 at 8 p.m at Rockwell Hall auditorium. Tickets are $6, and the doors open at 7 p.m.
