Absentee voting to begin soon

If you’ve been trying to avoid the GOP media frenzy for the past few months, now is your chance to get involved — voter registration dates are quickly approaching.

According to a press release from Jon Husted, Ohio Secretary of State, absentee and military overseas voter ballots were prepared on Jan. 21, which is required by the relatively new federal Military and Oversees Voter Empowerment Act.

If you’re not oversees but want to place an absentee vote, there is still time to register. The absentee voting period begins Jan. 31.

Eligible absentee and in-person absentee voters can request a ballot through their county boards of elections now until March 2.

If you prefer to stand in line and collect the “I Voted” sticker, you have until Feb. 6 to register to vote.

Although the actual primary election is March 6, Ohio voters who have moved or had a name change should update their information when they register to vote.
